Shifting the
African narrative
through food

Social Media

In 2012…

...I launched a food blog

At the time, I had no idea that this simple step would lay the foundation for a life-long project. I simply wanted to talk about the places where I ate, the new spots I was discovering, to share them… and above all, to show that Abidjan was evolving.

Back then, very few people were talking about the evolution of Abidjan’s culinary scene. It was new. In fact, Le Journal d’une Foodie was the first food blog in Côte d’Ivoire.

I never imagined that this blog would become a powerful platform to spotlight Ivorian gastronomy—and, over time, African gastronomy in all its richness and diversity.

Over time, I realized that this blog would never be just a simple list of good places to eat.
The desire to turn it into something bigger became a driving force—the need to leave a lasting impact.

More than a blog, I wanted Le Journal d’une Foodie, which became Afrofoodie in 2017, to be a true catalyst for showcasing our gastronomy, telling our stories, and, above all, contributing to a shift in the narrative of the African continent.

to purpose

my work today

Today, I continue to do what I deeply love: spotlighting African gastronomy in all its forms—from street food to the most creative dining experiences.

But I no longer simply tell stories. I create, I connect, and I pass on knowledge.

what i believe in

I believe that cooking is never just about taste.
It’s about memory, identity, and heritage.

I believe that our African cuisines tell who we are, where we come from, and what we have to offer the world.
They deserve to be seen, heard, and tasted—with pride, without hesitation, and without filters.

For too long, African gastronomy has been reduced to being “too spicy,” “too greasy,” or “unrefined.” These clichés diminish the richness, skill, and diversity of our culinary traditions.

I believe it’s time to change this narrative. To break down these prejudices. To show that our dishes are not just delicious—they carry expertise, culture, and pride.

And if you’ve made it this far…

…it’s probably because you, too, believe in the power of food.
Because somewhere inside, you feel the desire to see Africa told differently—by those who live it, cook it, and celebrate it.

Whether you’re a food lover, curious about our cultures, an aspiring entrepreneur, or simply looking for inspiration… you’re in the right place.

I hope this blog—and everything around it—encourages you to explore differently, create unapologetically, and dream big.

And above all, to believe that yes, we can make a difference.
